Cloth Bag Design Contest
Grades 1 to 6
From all submissions, one design will be featured on the Official Earth Day
Ottawa 2011 Cloth Bag. Second and Third prizes will also be awarded.
- Earth Day Ottawa will invite elementary school students (grades 1 to 6) to
enter 8 1/2" x 11" colour designs for the FRONT of a cloth bag.
- Entries must be received by EDO by Thursday, April 5, 2011. Mail or drop
off to Elaine Gibson, 56 Robson Court, Kanata, ON, K2K 2W1.
- You may use up to four colours in your design, including black. Bags are
beige. Entries must be hand drawn.
- Entries will be judged on attractiveness, the usability of the design for
a screen print, and the use of symbols that clearly suggest Earth Day and
Ottawa. The Earth Day Canada logo may be included. Winners will be announced on
April 9, 2011.
- The best design will be printed on Cloth Bags and distributed to EDO
volunteers and prizewinners. Some may also be sold.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries including an official
Earth Day Ottawa cloth bag with the design of the winning artist.
- The chosen entries will be framed and returned to the winners.
- The supervising teacher for each winner will receive an official Earth Day Ottawa
cloth bag.
Judging Tips
| |
|
1. |
Markers are recommended over coloured pencils, as
they make the artwork stand out and look better. |
| |
|
2. |
Simple, bold designs work best; too much fine
detail doesn't work well as a screen print. |
| |
|
3. |
Clearly label the back of each entry with the
students' name and school so we can contact the winners. |

Concours
Gibson, 56 Robson Court, Kanata (Ontario) K2K 2W1.
