Volunteers Needed!
Tasks for Volunteers:
The following are some of the tasks required to be done by the volunteers working on the Solar Sprint Competition.
- Maintain contact lists of teachers, schools, mentors and volunteers
- Prepare advertising and distribute to the schools.
- Look after the stock of component parts. Make up kits for the schools when necessary.
- Mentoring students: Mentors are needed to go into the schools to help the teachers and the students. Mentors should read the paragraph elsewhere in this Solar Sprint web site showing the "Work Commitment Guideline".
- Getting mentors to sign up. Usually local companies can help with advertising the need for mentors.
- Matching mentors to the schools is another task that needs to be done.
- Getting funds to help pay for prizes and getting gifts from sponsors.
- Making up certificates, plaques, gift bags, prizes, awards, etc for the winners, volunteers, mentors, teachers and for the schools is required. An Awards and Prizes Organizer is needed.
- Judging the other components of the Solar Sprint competition during the week before the races on Saturday. This could mean judging Websites, Videos, other submissions.
- Race Day Set-up and Tear-down
- Check-In Registration Desk administrator
- Technical Inspection of the race cars
- Repair Station setup and assistant.
- Photographers, Videographers, etc on Race Day
- Race track officials
- Record Keeper to keep track of the winning and losing cars
- Announcer
- Webmaster for the Earth Day Ottawa website, Solar Sprint Section
